Ubercon is coming up in mid-October, and there is a whole lot of cool stuff going on around it. Enough to take up an entire newspost. So let's begin.
I highly recommend checking out Rich Fantasy Lives. Rich Fantasy Lives is the title of the very first album by my friend Rob Balder. The CD is a collection of some of Rob's best "filks", or parody songs. If you go to the website, you can listen to some samples of his songs. Rich Fantasy Lives (an original song), Sympathy for George Lucas, Teach your robots well, and Always a Goth Chick are some of my favorites. If you like the samples, I suggest buying the CD, because it only gets better. What are you waiting for? Go!
What does this have to do with Ubercon? Well, Rob will be there, and he should have a concert at some point, so you can come see him perform in person.
Next, people who pre-register for Ubercon get first dibs on signing up to attend panels. People who are signed up for panels, get priority on seating over people who just show up. I'm not sure how crowded it will get, but it's something you may want to consider.
You can scroll to the bottom of the Guests page to see a schedule of webcomic-related panels, and find which ones I'm on. I'm on a few different ones, including a CAD-only panel, which are always fun.
As I mentioned earlier this week, I will be raffling off this XBox at Ubercon:
The console skin on this XBox is a prototype, and is one-of-a-kind. When I start offering skins for all of the consoles in the future, this design won't be one of them. Raffle tickets will probably be $1 a piece. Someone at Ubercon is going home with a brand new signed XBox.
Another big event at Ubercon will be the debut of Brian's novel! I've been eagerly awaiting this book, as I'm sure many of you have. Looks like first chance to get it will be Ubercon.
And don't forget that the original pencil artwork for that spiffy Spider-man wallpaper I did is going to be on auction at the Ubercon art show, to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
If you can't make it to Ubercon, don't fret. Perhaps you can catch me at Nekocon in November?
