Oblivion has gone gold. It will be hitting shelves around March 20th. I guess I would be more excited about that news if every video game retailer on the planet hadn't been listing that as the release date for the last three months. However, it's nice to have official confirmation. As you might have guessed, I'm eagerly awaiting the new Elder Scrolls, and I don't think my poor heart could handle another DOA4 fiasco just yet.
I have always taken my Elder Scrolls on the PC, with cream and sugar. Aside from a slight graphical advantage over consoles (yes, even the Xbox 360), the TES Construction set just does wonderful things for the games. Things that console players miss out on. Say what you will about the versatility of the Xbox Live service, you can not (and I would guess not any time in the near future) mod a console game to the extent of a PC game. I think the best console users could hope for is officially released add-ons or missions, similar to what games have experienced in the past (Splinter Cell and Ninja Gaiden spring to mind).
Burnout Revenge and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter are being released next week. I'll pick up Revenge no questions asked, because I didn't buy it for any previous system. I knew they were releasing it for the 360 eventually, and it's not just a port, it's practically a remake.
G.R.A.W. I'm still not sure about. I'm waiting for the demo to come through XBL. I haven't played a Ghost Recon game since the original, and that neglect has staled the franchise for me. However, I go all warm and fuzzy on the pants region at the mention of co-op gameplay, so who knows. That may be enough for me to blindly plunk down sixty smackers. I should note, I'm not questioning whether Red Storm and Ubisoft made a good game. That's pretty much a given. At this point, with all the other titles I'm trying to enjoy, I'm just not sure if it's something I would play.
Speaking of playing, a week from today I'll be in Rhode Island for our first LAN event, Digital Overload. That's hot.
