Screening the recruits

Sort of real news!

Hey guys, thanks for all the emails about Kaylee, and for being ok with my skipping the front page news on Friday. Kaylee is a little bundle of joy, and she's a very sweet puppy. I'll get some more pictures up on my journal this week.

In the meantime, Tomb Raider Legend hits tomorrow, and I'm actually excited about it. I had written the series off as all but dead to me, but after trying the game out, I found it to be a nice return to what made it great. You can check out my first impressions on CADMedia, and when I grab the full version of the game I'll get a review up shortly after.

Bethesda has released some new information concerning future plugins and pricing. More info here.

Battlefield 2 Modern Combat also arrives on select consoles this week, but I personally prefer the game on the PC.

Our presale shirts here, here and here should be shipping soon.

I haven't done CAD GameDays the past two weekends because things have been really busy for me. A lot of stuff happening around my apartment, some remodeling and such, and then we got Kaylee, so I've been distracted. I'd like to try and put something together for this weekend though, so I'll let you know.

I've been pretty distracted over the last week or so. I know it. I haven't been very present here or in CAD Premium, and for that I apologize.

In checking my email, I'm seeing a few questions arising often, so I thought I might take a moment and throw out some answers here.

Q. Is your puppy named after Kaylee from Firefly?

A. Admittedly yes, that's where we got the name from. My girlfriend wouldn't let me name the puppy Boomer (BSG), and we both liked the name Kaylee and it fit the puppy's personality, so that's what we went with.

Q. What computer specs are you playing Oblivion on?

A. My gaming rig specs are as follows:

Athlon 64 FX-57
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo
2x GeForce 7800GTX
4GB Corsair XMS RAM
200GB Seagate SATA HD

I use the onboard sound with some Klipsch THX speakers.

Q. Will the animated series come to DVD?

A. Yes, after the first "season", we'll put together a DVD with extra content and all that jazz.

Q. When is the third CAD book coming out?

A. This year, that's all I can promise right now. I started working on it in January, and then took a break from it. I'm hoping to have it out by fall.

Q. What's got you so busy lately?

A. Well, a lot of things. My roommates are moving out, and I'm taking over the apartment by myself. So there's a lot of moving and stuff going on there. Last weekend I painted my living room, and I've got a lot of new furniture coming in.

And now the puppy, which I'll admit is a huge distraction. She's very well behaved, but a puppy this young requires a lot of attention.

No worries though, the moving is almost done, and things will get back to normal soon! I'm writing up all the materials people will need to go over before submitting their applications for CADMedia, so hopefully I can get that underway soon!
