Dodge the gamble

Melty face

So I've heard a rumor that the Dead Rising demo will hit XBL on the 12th of August, exactly four days too late for me to give a shit about it. It's already been hard enough waiting for this to come out since seeing it at E3. Come Tuesday the 8th, it's zombie slaughterin' time. Ok, apparently it came out just as I posted this.

Theres a new gameplay video for Crysis on Fileplanet. I'm not even going to link to it, because I find it completely unimpressive. While I think the realism being applied to the flora in the game looks pretty cool, I don't care how well some ferns react to bullets if blowing up a truck's gas tank still results in a stiff, boring explosion. With everything I've seen of the game (at E3 and since) I get the impression that they said "Wow, look at what we can do with plants! Hmm... lets throw some guns in here and make a video game around these plants!".

Though perhaps the game just doesn't have enough zombies for my particular tastes. I dunno.

Luckily my rig clears the recommended specs for Crysis' plant-fest, but if they didn't, and if I happened to have $18k lying around collecting dust, I suppose one of these would be pretty fun to play with. I'm not quite sure what playing with an 80 billion pixel graphics machine would do to a human face, but I'm willing to guess there would be melting involved.

Ctrl+Alt+Del leaves ZeStuff

After a successful and mutually beneficial year and a half arrangement, ZeStuff will no longer be the official store for Ctrl+Alt+Del. Though they have provided us a good service these past eighteen months, I need to make sure that I'm offering the best and most affordable merchandise for my readers. One of the primary concerns, particularly from our international customers, has been the high shipping prices on our merchandise. I'm evaluating a number of options and I hope to alleviate that concern in the near future.

In the meantime, ZeStuff will be selling what we have left of the current CAD merchandise (shirts, posters and books). Most likely those t-shirt designs will never be reprinted. The posters will definitely never be reprinted, and Volumes 1 and 2, once we run out, probably won't be reprinted until 2007. So what I'm saying is, if there is anything currently in the store that you've had your eye on, now would be the time to pick it up. Because once it's gone, it's gone. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I want to thank Simon and Pierre at ZeStuff for all of their very hard work in getting the CAD merchandise to the fans. I look forward to making an announcement in the upcoming weeks concerning the future of the CAD store, and the new items I'm working on, including a release date for Volume 3.

Dead Rising Demo

I just woke up about two minutes ago, but according to the hundreds of emails in my inbox, the Dead Rising demo has hit the XBL marketplace already. So uhhh.... screw this post, I'm going to play.

Constructive

So I had a pretty average day today.

I spent some time placing a frying pan on a gas stove until it was red hot, and then I went around pressing said pan into the faces of nearby zombies, which would sear them into a charred, unrecognizable mess. Then I would take funny pictures as they flailed around blindly.

I beat one zombie senseless with a giant stuffed bear, while he was wearing a care bear mask.

And don't even get me started on the hidden katana.

Is it Tuesday yet?

Chromehounds- Steel Potatoes

If any members of the Steel Potatoes read this... you probably already know, but Tarakia got smoked in this war. I'm thinking we should seek asylum with Sal Kar. I'll be on later tonight.
