Spring

Two weeks away

Ok, with eleven days left (holy shit, how did that happen?), I need to try and reach Digital Overload attendees for some last minute important issues.

First of all, I still have some registration payments that I am unable to attach to accounts because I have not heard back from the payees. Please, if you paid for yourself, or paid for someone else, but do not see them listed on the list of attendees, email me. I'd like to not have you show up expecting a badge and we have no idea who you are.

Second, I urge you all to print out and sign your event waiver and bring it with you. This will help speed up the check-in process on Friday. If you are under 18 and attending Digital Overload, you MUST print this out and have it signed by your parent/guardian and bring it with you to the event. If you don't, we cannot let you into the event for legal reasons. I don't want to have to turn anyone away, so please make sure you remember this.

We're hoping to have your accounts open for you to update your equipment for the event in the next day or two. At which point I'll ask you all to make sure that the equipment you want to bring is up to date in your profile. This will also help speed up the check-in process.

One of our network guys has written up a great preparation thread that you should read if you're attending Digital Overload.

I've posted the current Digital Overload Floorplan, which you will also find in your event program booklets when you arrive. This should help you figure out where you and your buddies want to sit ahead of time.

I think that's it for right now. If you're not coming to Digital Overload, I'm sorry you can't make it. Eleven more days and I promise you won't have to listen to me talk about it for another year.

Digital Overload: Equipment Update

If you've registered and paid for Digital Overload 2007, and signed up for a BYOC spot, you can now edit the equipment that you'll be bringing with you. However we'll be closing down everything to do with user accounts on Friday, to get ready for the event the following weekend, so if you could please make sure your equipment is entered before then, it will really help speed up check-in on Friday evening.

We'll also be closing down tournament registration on Friday. You'll still be able to register for tournaments on-site, up to a point, but registering by Friday gives you a better shot at getting a spot, if space becomes limited.

Additionally, you can now retrieve lost passwords for your Digital Overload account, if you've forgotten yours.

Command and Conquer 3 demo is out

The demo for C&C3 is out. I was playing it earlier this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. It seems like pretty standard RTS stuff so far, but it is visually very attractive.

Personally I loved the FMV stuff. Of course it was made even better for me by Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers), Cameron (House), Sawyer (Lost) and Boomer and Number Six (Battlestar Galactica).

I still haven't tried Supreme Commander. I'll download the demo for that, as everyone is talking about it. I suck at RTS' though. I love them, I just haven't been very good at any of them since my Starcraft days, so all Supreme Commander sounds like to me is a chance to lose on a grander scale with prettier graphics.
