I've been spending this week getting a bunch of comics done in advance, gearing up to take a couple of weeks off for vacation. I'm going to spend a week or so in Liberty City, and then head down to Florida for some fun and sun.

To say that I'm psyched for Grand Theft Auto 4 is a bit of an understatement at this point. It's been a while since I've looked forward to a game this much. It's also been a while since I really got into a GTA, so that's probably contributing to it. I played San Andreas a little bit, but nothing about the game really 'connected' with me, as good as it was, so I didn't stay on it long. Not like I did back in the GTA3 days.

It's also been a fairly dry month as far as new releases are concerned. My interest in Rainbow Six Vegas is finally waning, though I will say it held my attention for a good long while.

Next week I will be doing a spring cleaning on my Xbox Live friends list in light of GTA4's multiplayer aspect. If you've been trying to send me friend invites but found the list full, check back next week. Hopefully I can clear out a lot of inactive friends and we can get some GTA4 free mode mayhem going. I'll post about it next week too, if I can manage to tear myself away for a moment.

Metal Gear Online Beta

Whyyyy must you patch so slowly?

Update 1: This is the most convoluted online game/beta registration process I have ever seen. I haven't even seen the game yet and I've had to create no less than three separate identifications with unique logins and passwords.

Update 2: Finally. It's actually not bad. Not a completely intuitive interface, but it doesn't take too long to get the hang of it. I love that you can just around the whole game under a cardboard box, even though absolutely nobody has been fooled so far.

Primerica, who are thou?

Saturday, April 26, 2008 | 12:18 AM | by
I don't post here too often so for those who don't know who I am, I'm the one Tim refers to as his server guy.

I know CAD has a very diversified fan base and I'm hoping I can get some advice or stories from some of you.

Long story short, me and my wife met a person from Primerica last Thursday. The services this guy (who was referred by a friend of us, not via random phone call) had to offer seemed very interesting and honestly, almost unreal.

Now, I'm not stupid enough to let just anybody take our mortgage, our debts and our life insurance and change everything without first knowing if these guys can be trusted. I did the usual google search and found both positive and negative about this company.

So this is why I come to you, dear CAD fans. Has anybody in the US, or even better, in Canada ever dealt with someone from Primerica? How was your experience? Would you recommend it?

Anything you guys can tell me will help take a decision. Am I dealing with miracle workers here or with a pyramidal scam?

Send your stories and advices to pierre [at]

Thank a lot to everyone!

UPDATE: I made a few clarifications to this post. You can read them if you scroll down a little bit past the Uwe Boll movie.

How can you hate this guy?

Primerica: A few clarifications

Saturday, April 26, 2008 | 02:27 PM | by
So I've been getting a lot of replies regarding my previous post and I wanted to make a few clarifications:

  • While the rep I spoke with did mention the whole "becoming a part of them" part, I have zero interest in that. I'm more than happy with what I do for a living and quite frankly, I would NEVER give myself the pressure of handling someone else's finances. From the emails I've had so far, I can already see that their hiring practices seems sometime shady but I can't base my decision solely on that.

  • The rep we met last Thursday never approached us. In fact, my wife heard about him in a conversation with her friend and we decided to ask for his number sometime like a week later. Then we held that number for about 2 weeks and finally called him. Our name was never sold/traded or anything and as far as I know, my wife's friend won't be getting anything out of any business we would make.

Thanks again to everybody who wrote to me and keep them coming in. I'll start replying to everyone tonight.
