I'm not very far into Metal Gear Solid 4 at all, so this is just a first impression kind of thing... but so far... it's not really doing it for me.
It's definitely a good game, it's got gorgeous graphics, it just hasn't grabbed me yet. It hasn't caused that feeling like "Oh man, I have to hurry up and finish whatever I'm doing so I can go play MGS4". I caught up on the convoluted story of the games over the past couple of weeks, so that doesn't have anything to do with it. I have heard that the game just starts off boring for the first couple of hours, so maybe I just haven't gotten past that yet.
I'll give it some more time today and tomorrow, and revisit my thoughts on it on Monday.
On a side note, for the last few months since I got my new cell phone, my primary ring-tone has been Snake's Codec bleep-bleep. Now whenever Otacon calls Snake in the game, I reach for my phone, and my dogs start barking.

Okay, five hours in and it's finally starting to get its hooks in me. But good gods the beginning of the game is boring. I think it has to do with all the drawn out cutscenes you have to endure with such little actual gameplay.
