Huge Awesome Digital Overload 2011 Blowout Newspost!

Monday, May 23, 2011 | 01:10 PM | by

Today's comic pretty much sums up what I heard in my head when I saw this Fox News clip. And just about any other Fox News clip, now that I think about it. Much respect to Brian Ambrozy of Icrontic for even agreeing to get on that show with those idiots in the first place.

In other news.... holy shit, Digital Overload 2011 is this weekend! Online registration closes tomorrow evening for those of you looking to pick up a last minute badge. You can also get a Spectator pass at the door for $20 that will let you into the event to hang out, and play as much tabletop stuff as you want. You're also welcome to play on consoles provided you have the owner's permission.

Also, if you haven't booked your hotel yet, most of the hotels in the area are sold out. However the Radisson still has some rooms available, and not only that, if you book your room there you'll be entered into a raffle to win a prize package worth over $200! Crazy!

We've got a ton of great tournaments and games planned for the weekend, as well as some other cool stuff, like our Microsoft sponsored XNA workshop! If you purchased your badge, but haven't logged into the website to sign up for tournaments and such, you should do that before this weekend. Tournament registration will be open at the event, but people who sign up for them online get first dibs.

Also don't forget that Sunday night is the Digital Overload After Party!

That's right, after the event shuts down on Sunday evening (May29th), the party keeps going over at The 8x10 in downtown Baltimore!

All Digital Overload badge holders can head over there at 5pm after Digital Overload shuts down for free admission to a night of video games, booze (if you're over 21) and music!

We'll have video games on a projection screen hooked up to their sound system, and later in the evening we'll have live music from some of the area's awesome 8-bit chip tune bands! The band lineup includes:

Trey Frey

Math Panda

Forever The Win

Temp Sound Solutions

All Digital Overload badge holders get in free, but everyone is welcome to come to the afterparty! Cover charge without a badge will be $5! The After Party will run until 11pm and should be a lot of fun! And if you're local to the area, make sure to check out PixelSeed and a great lineup of bands at Byte Nyte on June 4th!

I'm really excited about this weekend and seeing how it all turns out. It's our first year in a new venue, and we have a lot of awesome stuff lined up. I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of familiar faces, as well as all new faces of people attending DO for the first time!

I hope to see a bunch of you this weekend!

Brian, the owner of the venue where the after party is taking place, sent along this post he wrote with some details about the party, as well as some great links of things to do in the Baltimore area while you're in town for Digital Overload!

Hey everyone! I am the owner of The 8x10 where the official DIGITAL OVERLOAD AFTER PARTY is taking place.

I am pretty stoked to be able and offer up my venue to CAD and hope that everything with DO 2011 goes well so it comes back to Baltimore for 2012.

First let me tell you a little about what we are planning for the after party. We are going to open at 5pm so people can come straight over from the Convention Center.

We will be having a Xbox360 hooked up to our 10000 watt PA and projected on a 15 foot screen. I believe Mortal Kombat will be the game of choice for that one.

We also will have an Xbox360 upstairs with Madden running.

CAD/DO will be supplying another Xbox360 but I am not sure what will be on that.

Around 7pm to 11pm we will host 5 separate CHIP MUSIC ARTIST. They will be performing live 8 bit compositions.

The artists are:
